Teach Yourself Visually Jewelry Making and BeadingJul 02, 2010 The book arrived very quickly and was a real delight. Good refresher course. The pictures along with the instruction made it very simple to follow. Well worth the money.

Love these Teach Yourself Visually books!Jun 08, 2010 I have bought tons of books on jewelry-making, and wish I had seen this one first. As far as learning from books goes (my favorite method), this book and the Beading Answer Book are the only two I need. Of course, I still have the TYV wire book and the bead weaving one on my public wish list. I love books.
The author of this book is so clear that I don't have to figure out what she's saying by actual practice, the way I do with others. The photos are the best I've ever seen. This book has chapters on design, stringing, weaving, wirework, using a jig, macrame, beginning and intermediate projects, and getting more training, even a short section on becoming a business. The resource sections are excellent.
You can't go wrong with this book, you'll love it.
Good, but missing some informationMay 18, 2010 I bought this because it was rated five stars by the most uses, compared to some of the other books I'd been advised to get. But it doesn't have some of the basic info I'm looking for that I haven't been able to get in classes, either, such as working with chain, and more ideas about using cord and other stringing materials. I think most of it's good, but there are also some sections on wire work that have fewer pictures than beginners like me could use, and there's clearly room on the pages for more pics. I'm not sure any book is perfect for a beginner with spatial problems like me, though, but I'd think a book that's called Teach Yourself Visually might have, well, more visuals. The problem is only in a few spots, though, so I still give it four stars -- if I could give it four and a half, I would.
Teach yourself visually, Jewellery Making and beadingApr 27, 2010 As I am very new to making Jewellery, have found this book of great use to me. The clear explanations of materials and the simple chart of bead sizes etc. Having grown up in a non metric country for the best part of my youth, have no concept of mm etc, so found this simple chart very useful. Not tried all technics yet but looking forward to doing so.
Very informative self teaching book and reference guideApr 13, 2010 This book is great! Even if you are above a beginner level and think you know everthing there is to know, this book will prove you wrong. This book covers the basics of Everything and then takes you 2 steps further with different techniques, guides, different materials, charts, you name it. Like what materials are best used in which circumstance and explained in full detail. And suggestions for advancement in areas of your interest. I was shocked by the quality of the book. It's like a text book. Includes an index, main content, references and recommendations, and a detailed glossary makes it fairly easy to look up exactly what you need. I'm always coming back to this and I'm continually happy to have this on hand. Definitely well worth it.
